Today you can create your self updating contact.

 

This new kind of contact permit you to always:

  • Provide your updated contact information to your friends, colleagues and relatives exactly in the moment they need it.
  • Receive the updated information from all your contacts exactly in the moment you need it.

Self Updating Contacts

A WhereIsNow™ self updating contact is like any other WhereIsNow™ document.

You register the information about your address, phone or mobile number, operator, email, Skype and much more on WhereIsNow™ (or wherever you want), and WhereIsNow™ associates the couple <PublisherID, DocumentID> to this contact's document.

 

Finish!

 

You only have to communicate the <PublisherID, DocumentID> WhereIsNow™ Key of your contact document to every people you want to stay in touch. There is no need to inform anyone about your contact changes (email, mobile, fax ...). Just tell your friends and colleagues your WhereIsNow™ key once, and they will be always able to find your latest contact information.

So, you don't have to worry about communicating if your address, your phone or your email has changed! When this happens, simply update your contact document with new information and register a new version of your contact document.

 

How to access to a Self Updating Contact

Everyone who want to know newest ways to communicate with you, can access to your updated contact information:

  • on the WhereIsNow™ site, using the Key-Search functionality (i.e. the following is the Sammy Peppernick's contact document ( [1] - [31] ) );
  • through every address book management application integrated with the WhereIsNow™ service ( we are currently developing a plug-in for Google Contacts in order to let become your GMail address book a self updating address book )
  • through our Hive.Now plug-in. With this plugin you can query WhereIsNow™ in order to keep the address book of your cell phone always up-to-date. The definitive version is available on Nokia OVI Store; currently you can download English version only ( [1] - [44] ). Italian version will be available as soon as possible.

Share your contact

In order to protect your personal data, WhereIsNow™ provides to you a Grants System.

You can choose to reserve your contact information:

  • to all (so creating a public contact document)
  • to all WhereIsNow™ users
  • only to a closed restricted list of WhereIsNow™ users you have specified
  • only to an open restricted list of WhereIsNow™ users you have specified (in this configuration, you will be notified of users who tried to access your contact).

Everytime you need, you can deny or reallow grant to someone. Furthermore, you can accept or deny requests for your contact document from users who are not in your open restricted list.
